PyPad terms of use
The short version: the programs you write in PyPad are yours. The app is provided as is, what your code does is your responsibility, and nothing in these terms takes away the rights the bundled open-source licenses give you.
1. What PyPad is
PyPad is a programming environment: it lets you write and run your own Python programs, including games, on your Android device.
The programs you write are yours. We claim no ownership of your code, your games, or anything else you make with PyPad, and these terms give us no rights over them.
2. Your license
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use PyPad on Android devices you own or control, subject to these terms and to Google Play's terms of service. PyPad is distributed through Google Play, and if anything in these terms conflicts with Google Play's terms, Google Play's terms govern.
3. Your code and your responsibility
PyPad executes code that you write or import. You are responsible for what your code does. Programs can consume storage, battery and processing power; a buggy program can fill your device's storage or drain its battery. PyPad runs your code in a separate process so the editor stays usable, and never gives your code network access, but it cannot prevent every possible use of your own device's resources.
4. Open-source components and samples
PyPad includes open-source components (CPython, pygame-ce and others), each under its own license. The app's Open source licenses screen lists every one of them, and our patches and build scripts are published through our open-source page.
Nothing in these terms limits the rights those component licenses give you, including rights under the LGPL to modify a covered library and to reverse engineer for the purpose of debugging such modifications.
The bundled sample programs are there for learning. Use them, change them, and build on them freely in your own projects, including projects you sell.
5. No warranty
PyPad is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. We do not promise that the app will be error-free or uninterrupted.
6. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Anatory Software is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or exemplary damages (including loss of data, loss of profits, or device damage) arising from your use of the app or from programs you run in it. Our total liability for any claim is capped at the amount you paid for the app.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, and nothing in them takes away your statutory consumer rights, including any refund rights you have through Google Play.
7. Termination
This license ends if you breach these terms. You can end it at any time by uninstalling the app. Sections 5, 6 and 8 survive termination.
8. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Oregon, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. This does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory consumer laws where you live. If any part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest of them still applies.
9. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms for future versions of PyPad. If we do, the date at the top of this page will change, and material changes will be called out in the app's release notes on Google Play. Continuing to use the app after an update means you accept the updated terms.
